Safest Used Cars

Safety first

It's a crazy, unpredictable world out there, so when it comes time to start searching for your next car, you will most certainly want to know which models are the safest cars on the market.

Especially if you are buying this car as your family's primary mode of transportation or if you are purchasing it for your teen's first car, finding safe vehicles is a top priority.

Of course you could always go buy a new car that's loaded with premium safety features and options, but not everybody can afford to buy the best of the best. Luckily, there are many specific models that stand out as safer used cars than the rest.

You can find models with excellent safety reputations that have lower price tags. There are many safe cars for under $5000 that would give you peace of mind, and also not break your budget at the same time.

Then teamwork

Certain car models have developed a well deserved reputation for safety and reliability. It's common sense that a larger vehicle would be the safer option. After all, if two incredibly heavy metal machines slam into each other at high speeds, wouldn't you rather be in the bigger one?

The only problem is that large SUVs and other heavy vehicles often have powerful engines, tip over easier and overall can be more difficult for beginner drivers. Trucks are viable options, but aren't ideal for a family vehicle or a teen's first car.

All things considered, the midsize sedans provide the best overall balance of safety, practicality and affordability. Here are five of the standouts:

  • Audi A4
  • Honda Accord
  • Toyota Camry
  • Ford Fusion
  • Chevy Malibu

You can find many of these cars for less than 3000 dollars if you are willing to take older, higher mileage vehicles. This is another reason that trucks may be a good decision if they can meet your needs. Trucks often rack up more mileage than regular cars.

Many luxury brands have are excellent for safety, but you would have to search around to find one of them for this cheap. Getting a luxury used $2000 car could take some patience, and you will most certainly only find high mileage cars.
