Government Regulations in an Attempt to Lower Green House Gas Emissions
Kenny Dent
Over the last 3 years our government regulations in America have taken strides in setting new regulations to help curb green house gasses. The most recent of these last year, setting the standard for new vehicles to average 54.5 MPG, is a large step towards this goal. While this sounds fantastic is this goal really obtainable and affordable to the average family?
If you were to take in the current rates, employment troubles, and the other financial situations going on currently it would seem grim indeed. However with this growth more industries are having other more specialized jobs opening up, and in turn having more available for the average worker.
By 2025 these standards are going to go in place, and have to be met. This gives the auto industry in America plenty of time to comply with these standards. There is worry that despite the possible job growth from the industries shift from focusing on gasoline could potentially bring, that the price of the cars would not be feasible.
Save at the Pump with a New Car Purchase
While it is still quite some time before these regulations become in full effect, the push for higher fuel efficient cars can be seen already. Plenty of cars releasing this year are touting high average miles per gallon and some are almost to the federal standards. Depending on the route you decide to look in, weather it be alternative fuel, diesel, or normal gasoline there are plenty of options to choose from.
The biggest bar right now the industry faces is the prices of these cars. While there are some affordable fuel efficient vehicles available many are still quite expensive and may deter some from purchasing them. While everyone wants to enjoy savings at the gas pump in light of the rising gas prices, it is hard to justify that initial cost.
When looking to purchase a new car it is often times tough to not look at that initial sticker tag and get "sticker shock". In most cases it is the first thing that jumps to us, and can play a major factor in our purchasing options. Regardless the industry is offering plenty of fuel efficient options for the average car buyer, and is slated to offer even more fuel efficient vehicles.
