Good in car technology

Quality high technology

Every year, all the new cars that hit dealerships come with more and more good in car technology. We live in a very high tech society, and many of these futuristic features help make our cars much safer and efficient, not to mention more enjoyable to drive. As technology progresses, these once exclusive features are now being included in all kinds of affordable vehicles.

Not all of these new technology features are working quite as well as everyone hoped they would, however. Before you go to buy your next new car, you have to be sure you are not getting some in car technology that frustrates car buyers.

New territory

This year's JD Power and Associates Initial Quality Study marked a first for the auto industry. For the first time ever, the most commonly reported problem that new car buyers had with their cars was with their vehicle's technology features not working correctly.

Not surprisingly, the most common reported problems were with the voice recognition and multimedia infotainment systems. Issues with factory installed voice recognition systems rose by 137%. Automakers clearly still have a lot of room to improve on how integrated and functional all this new technology can really be.

Staying safe

While you won't find many detractors from the more passive safety and performance technology, there are many people who feel all this navigation, information and entertainment features that are constantly in driver's faces are just too much. Many people make the case that all this infotainment technology is making the distracted driving epidemic an even bigger problem than it already is.

When you are considering buying a car, especially cars with a great deal of features like high tech hybrid luxury cars, make sure you spend as much time as possible getting acclimated to the car's technology features. Being more familiar with the features will allow you to spend less time fumbling with it and more time with your eyes on the road, where they should be.

Navigation, sync and infotainment systems vary from vehicle to vehicle, and opinions on which are the best is largely opinionated, much like asking someone what their favorite cell phone is.

It's all about finding the car that fits you and you are comfortable with. If you search for cars online first, you can review all the available features and find out everything you need to know about them beforehand.
