SUVs with Three Rows

While SUVs as we used to know them are not so popular anymore, the new breed of SUVs is an entirely different animal. One of the most attractive things about SUVs has always been their versatility and utility. One of the things SUVs can do the best is to comfortably move a lot of people, and outside of buses and vans they are pretty much the best at it. There are several different SUVs with third row seating that provide the ability to carry even more passengers around.

Not at all third row SUVs are created equal. In fact, the size and comfort of this third row can vary greatly from vehicle to vehicle. To find the best new car deal that suits you best, you will definitely need to check out all your options.

Even though all these vehicles seat seven or more people, how much room they will have depends on whether you mainly haul around children or adults. Here are some of the best new SUVs for sale this year with a third row of seats:

Top New SUVs with Third Row Seating in 2012

2012 Kia Sorento LX
Kia Sorento LX $23,150 22 / 32
2012 Toyota Highlander
Toyota Highlander $28,240 20 / 25
2012 Hyundai Veracruz
Hyundai Veracruz $28,345 17 / 22
2012 Honda Pilot

2012 Dodge Durango
Dodge Durango $28,995 16 / 23
2012 Chevy Traverse
Chevy Traverse $29,660 17 / 24

The Kia Sorento is on the border of small and midsize crossover SUV, but its dimension are long enough that it can support an adult friendly third row. It also starts at a considerably lower price than the rest, but if you have to have more room you should look elsewhere.

If you need a car that seats eight people, check out the Chevy Traverse or Honda Pilot. These are some of the roomiest choices in this segment, and can comfortably seat eight adults, even in the third row.

If you want a nice balance between price, passenger room and fuel economy you should take a look at the Ford Explorer and Toyota Highlander. It’s hard to go wrong with any of these vehicles, but depending on your specific wants and needs, some are molded to better fit your situation.
