The Least Expensive New Trucks
Bruce Sheridan
Cheap trucks for 2012
Pickup trucks are classic American vehicles, and they have found success in this nation more than any other place in the world. Americans love their trucks, and recent
advances have brought the pickup truck much better fuel economy.
These are not just work trucks anymore, and they are much more practical choices than ever before. Most people still do not want to spend too much money, and lucky for
them, there are
new trucks for under $20000.
There has been a shift in the truck industry, since full size trucks have been getting more efficient and less costly every year. This has made full size trucks much more
popular with car buyers than their midsize cousins, and this cannibalism of
car sales
has driven several manufacturers to cease production entirely of some midsize truck
models.
Midsize giants
However, even with full size trucks gobbling up all the sales, the cheapest choice for
new 4x4 trucks are still the midsize models. You can find all of these new models for less than 20000 dollars.

The most popular affordable 4x4 truck by a large margin is the Toyota Tacoma. It outsells its competition by a country mile, and it isn't hard to see why. The Tacoma has an excellent reputation for reliability, and it is also the truck with the best gas mileage.
The Chevy Colorado has seen surprising success, especially in the international market, and it is receiving a redesign in 2013 to cater to American buyers. Its cousin, the GMC Canyon, is also a solid choice in this segment.
The Ford Ranger and the Dodge Dakota were mainstays in the cheap midsize truck market for decades, but they were unfortunate casualties this year. Both manufacturers have halted production for these two trucks, but there are still plenty of used trucks still out there.
