GM
To kick things off, Chevy unveiled their redesigned 2014 Chevy Impala. The Impala has long been a great selling car, but recently it has been mostly due to its
sales as a fleet vehicle. However, Chevy looks to change all that and solidify its position near the top of this highly competitive market by overhauling its
Impala.
The exterior appears stronger and more modern, and is similar appearing to many of the designs Chevy is incorporating into its newly designed generations of
vehicles. The interior also received a considerable improvement, with much more soft touch materials, dual cockpit design, a 4.2 inch information screen above
the wheel and an available 8 inch infotainment display in the center. Chevy MyLink technology is also available, along with many new safety features including
collision mitigating braking, which can help avoid and reduce crashes.
The 2014 Chevy Impala was not the only GM vehicles debuting. The newly redesigned
2013 Chevy Traverse
brings a refresh to the competitive SUV crossover market.
The 2013 Buick Enclave was also unveiled, and looks to continue its prominence for Buick in the same market. Both these vehicles are built on the same GM platform,
so they are closely related.
These were two of the best selling three row full
size cross over SUVs on the market last year, and both come with more evolution than revolution for their new models. Both these vehicles will sport industry
first center air bags, along with updated luxury and comfort amenities.
Mercedes-Benz
Making a strong showing this year is Mercedes-Benz. Mercedes is almost synonymous with luxury and quality vehicles, and they took the opportunity this year to
unveil a few brand new cars, including a redesigned full size SUV 2013 Mercedes GL-Class and the sporty 2013 Mercedes SL65 AMG.
The GL-Class consists of three models, the GL-350, the GL-450 and the GL-550. Getting an overhaul this year brought many new improvements to the high end
SUVs, including what Mercedes says will be a substantial improvement in fuel economy. These vehicles are well known to come equipped with the latest and
greatest technology, and these new models are no exception. The price for the GL-550 will likely reach near $90,000.
The 2013 Mercedes SL65 AMG is definitely a step away from the norm, with its 6.0-liter v12 engine powering this sporty car. As expected with any Mercedes
vehicle, this super luxury speedster comes loaded with impeccable technology and luxury features.
This is certainly going to be one of the best head-turners on the road in the entire world. Click the image to the right to see larger and more detailed pictures

BMW
BMW had several big reveals on the floor today, not the least of which was the official unveiling of its compact crossover, the 2013 BMW
X1. Set to hit American dealerships this fall, this high end small SUV will reportedly start around $30,000. Car buyers in this segment
are looking for a more realistic alternative to full size SUVs in terms of fuel economy and pricing, but still need the benefits of
interior space that SUVs offer. BMW looks to hit that perfect balance with its X1, which has sold very well in Canada and Europe already,
and seems poised to do well in the States as well.
The 2013 BMW X1 was not the only car from BMW drawing attention. The 2013 BMW M6 Convertible and the 2013 BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe also
turned their fair share of heads. Going with the trend in recent times for its segment, the BMW 6-Series GC expanded out to a four door
design and retained its coupe moniker for some reason. Also debuting was the 2013 BMW M6 Convertible, one of the sportiest high end luxury
vehicles available. This exceptional car comes with a supercharged 4.0-liter v8 under the hood, which can get this baby moving in a hurry.
Lincoln
Lincoln revealed the concept for the newly redesigned 2013 Lincoln MKZ just a few short months ago at the Detroit Auto Show, and now it is officially unveiled
in New York. The mid size entry level luxury car segment is a very competitive market, and to get an edge in this class you need to offer a more distinct
style and offer more technology. Lincoln is retaining its MyLincoln Touch system, and comes with many different technological and comfort features.
The MKZ is cut from the same rock as the Ford Fusion, and even though the MKZ borrows heavily from the Fusion (especially with its hybrid model), the MKZ is
looking to blaze its own trail and not only distinguish itself from the Fusion, but also every other car in its segment.
Lexus
Lexus also brought out their newly redesigned mid size luxury vehicles, the 2013 Lexus ES Series. The ES Series comprises of two vehicles, the 2013 Lexus ES
350, and the all new Lexus ES 300h Hybrid. The 350 will come with a 3.5-liter v6 engine under the hood. The new hybrid is modeled after the Toyota Camry, and
has a similar 2.5-liter inline 4-cyl engine. Figures have not been released for gas mileage just yet, but it is safe to assume the hybrid ES 300h will get
close to 40 mpg, which is about what the Camry achieves. The new Lexus ES Series may look more sporty than before, but one look inside will reassure that this
car understands it is a luxury vehicle. It is brimming with technology and comfort features, and is even an inch longer than previous models, and gives
passengers more interior room as well.
Chrysler SRT
One of the most highly anticipated debuts for the 2012 New York International Auto Show is of course the
2013 SRT Viper
. After taking a short break from
production, Chrysler has designated its long time SRT branch to become a new division, much like it did for Ram, and gave the green light for the new supercar
Viper to be its pride and joy project. The Viper has been drastically improved from top to bottom, and it has even been on a diet, shedding over 100 lbs from
its last model weigh in.
The 2013 SRT Viper comes in two different models, the SRT Viper and SRT Viper GTS. Both models received a complete interior overhaul, and shares the same
supplier as Ferrari and Maserati. The exterior has also been considerably improved, but still retains the unique Viper look. Both models will also come with
the powerhouse 8.4-liter v10 engine, but the GTS will bring more technological and comfort features. Determined to not let this American icon go the way of
the dodo, Chrysler has brought back the snake in style.
Nissan
The mid size segment is one of the most competitive of any class of vehicles, and so every car manufacturer is looking to make a big splash here if they can.
Nissan unveiled its redesigned competitor, the
2013 Nissan Altima
. Although many of its competitors have gotten a recent redesign before the Altima, it is
better late than never. Nissan is said to have delayed the redesign due to the old Altima selling very well.
The Altima will reportedly have segment leading gas mileage, coming in at an impressive 38 hwy mpg, which just barely puts it at the head of the pack. The
standard Altima will come with a 2.5-liter 4-cyl engine, but there is a decreasingly popular v6 option if you so choose. Nissan will also be releasing a
hybrid Altima some time in the near future, which will certainly solidify its reputation as an efficient high value mid size sedan.
Hyundai
Hyundai is making bold moves in the mid size crossover SUV market with its two new 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe models. The old Santa Fe has been working out over
the last year, a lot. It shed an incredible 266 lbs, and has been redesigned and renamed as the 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport. Designed primarily for five
passengers, this car is aimed at more fuel efficiency and being a more realistic option. The Sport will get around 26 combined mpg, and comes with the same
engines as the Hyundai Sonata sedan.
The old Veracruz is likely finished, and instead will live on in spirit with the 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe. This model will cater to the bigger families, and will
have more interior space and a third row of seating to accommodate. It will also have more towing capacity than the Sport model.
Acura
Acura revealed its new Acura RLX concept car, and even though its exterior design looks pretty tame and average, the RLX is anything but. The RLX will revive
AWS, or all wheel steering. AWS basically enables two electric motors at each rear wheel to automatically slightly turn the rear wheels to give more stability
control at high speeds, and to reduce the turn radius at lower speeds and in tight spaces. A feature that is prominently used with monster trucks and farm
equipment, AWS has found its way to this new Acura RLX concept. The RLX is the flagship vehicle of the Acura division of Honda, and it appears that it will
set the tone for the direction they look to head in.
Infiniti
There have been a few completely electric vehicles to hit the market in recent years, and it is usually painfully obvious to everyone that it is a hybrid
vehicle. You can usually spot the tell tale boxy design of most these vehicles from miles away, but Infiniti looks to change all that with the debut of the
first fully electric luxury car, the Infiniti LE Concept car.
Even though the design and battery come off its cousin, the Nissan Leaf, you can barely tell from just looking at the two cars. The
Infiniti LE Concept
car is a great looking and technologically packed luxury car for any segment, especially for an electric car. Its electric range is expected to be equivalent
to the Leaf, so about 100 miles. Infiniti is also developing a wireless charging system, another industry first.
