Mazda CX-5 named best crossover vehicle

The 2013 Mazda CX-5 was recently announced as a Top Ten Car of 2013 by the Hispanic Motor Press Awards and the best vehicle in the Crossover Vehicle category.

The CX-5 is Mazda's first vehicle that fully incorporates SkyActiv Technology in addition to the KODO "Soul of Motion" design language. The vehicle also gives drivers the best in combined fuel economy, including the highest highway miles per gallon of any SUV that is sold in North America, producing 35 miles per gallon.

"We are honored by this recognition from the Hispanic Motor Press Awards jury," said Jim O'Sullivan, president and CEO, Mazda North American Operations (MNAO).  "The CX-5 is a consistent success in many respects with its outstanding handling, safety and fuel economy but also with its overall value to all consumers by being a vehicle that doesn't compromise, doesn't offer excuses, but instead exceeds expectations."

The Mazda CX-5 also has Zoom-Zoom-inspired driving dynamics in addition to being a Top Safety Pick with the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

This year marks the third consecutive that the Hispanic Motor Press Awards have been chosen by a 10-person panel of judges that consisted of highly-respected Hispanic journalists from across the industry.

"Mazda has prevailed as the Japanese 'driver's' brand," said the Hispanic Motor Press Awards panel in a statement.  "Their engineers broke new barriers in engine technology, and the Mazda CX-5 is the best example of a compact utility vehicle in the market today."

The judges were only able to consider vehicles that are all new and available to consumers in all 50 states. The winners in the 10 vehicle categories were selected based on design, comfort, safety, fuel economy, handling, performance, functionality, price and driver satisfaction.

Mazda also recently announced to told AutoNews that the company will focus heavily on customer services in the coming years in order to make shoppers and owners feel more appreciated. The company's CEO told the source that Mazda vehicle will look different going forward, relying on the company KODO "Soul of Motion" design theme that is seen in the 2013 Mazda CX-9.

Considering the changes Mazda is looking to make, more Americans might look to visit new car dealers to secure auto financing for one of the vehicles if they find it to be an attractive option.
