Most people who are buying a car choose their vehicle based on their budget. It's no real surprise; price is always the most important aspect. There are new cars under $10000 to $15000 that are very good options for budget minded drivers looking for a quality vehicle.

Before you assume that just because a car does not cost much automatically means the cars are junk, check some of the vehicles out. Since so many drivers are opting for this price range, it has made it very competitive, which in turn makes the vehicles much higher quality.

Most of the new cars under $15000 are subcompact cars. These kinds of vehicles are smaller and more cramped than other types of vehicles, but they make up for it with their low starting price and excellent gas mileage.

The lowest priced car is the 2012 Nissan Versa. It starts at just $10990, making the bare bones S trim the ultimate new car for practicality. If you want the kind of amenities and tech features that typically come in most new cars, it will drive the price up quickly as you move up through the trim levels.

The 2012 Hyundai Accent is another very practical car. Starting at just $12545, the Accent is one of the roomier subcompact cars, and it also has excellent gas mileage. What it doesn't have is an exciting ride, or a very refined interior, but it makes for a very affordable small family car.

The 2012 Ford Fiesta is one of the more sporty cars you can choose in this price range, and even in its base model it has a bit more zip than most the competition. It also gets exceptional gas mileage. However, if you need the most interior space available or want a lot of features on the base model, you should look elsewhere.

The 2012 Kia Rio is very similar to its mechanical cousin, the Accent. Like the Accent, the Rio gets excellent fuel economy. The Rio is one of the best equipped cars at the base trim level, but it is not the most spacious or the most fun to drive.

The base model comes with less standard features and the base engine does not match rival's mpg, but the turbocharged engine is one of the most efficient in the class.
