AWD Vans for People Looking for an AWD Van

Capable vans

If you have a lot of passengers that you drive on a regular basis and would also like to have more capability than your average van, then an AWD van would be perfect for you. There aren't very many of them, but the ones you do have a choice from are pretty quality vehicles.

Unless you want to get pre owned car deals on older models that had all wheel drive, then you have the choice between three new 2012 vans that offer AWD; two full size vans and one minivan. If you count the two twin full size vans as the same model, then it's really just a choice between full size and minivan.

Full size

The twin GM vans, the 2012 Chevy Express 1500 and the 2012 GMC Savana 1500, are pretty much the same exact vehicle, just a different badge. These big vans can hold 8 to 12 passengers in their standard wheel base models and with all wheel drive should be able to make it through even the harshest commutes.

The LS trim starts at $30,220 to get either one of these as an AWD vehicle. It comes equipped with 5.3L v8 engine that gets 310 horsepower and 334 lbs-ft of torque. When properly equipped these two models can tow 9,900 lbs. This engine with AWD equipped gets 13 city / 17 hwy mpg.

Minivan

The only new minivan to offer AWD is the 2012 Toyota Sienna. All wheel drive does not really come cheap, so to get it as an available option you will have to spring for the $29,536 LE trim. This trim has a 3.5L v6 with 266 horsepower and 245 lbs-ft of torque, and it gets an estimated 17 city / 23 hwy mpg.

This capable minivan offers more technological and comfort features than the full size options, but this trim can only seat seven people. The Sienna is consistently one of the best rated and reviewed minivans year after year.
